Luggage Storage at Abu Dhabi Airport: Rates, Location, and the Cheaper Option
The official desk is on the arrivals concourse, Level 0 by Gate 7, open around the clock — AED 55 for twelve hours, AED 75 for a day. And if you are leaving the airport on a tour with us, there is a simpler answer: the bags ride in the car, free.

Luggage is the quiet reason people waste a good layover inside the terminal — nobody fancies the Grand Mosque with a trolley case. The fix costs less than lunch, sits by Gate 7, and never closes. Here is everything, plus the case where you should not pay it at all.
The official desk, priced
Zayed International’s baggage storage sits on the arrivals concourse, Level 0, by Gate 7, and runs 24 hours. The published rates at our last check:
| Duration | Rate per item |
|---|---|
| Up to 12 hours | AED 55 |
| Up to 24 hours | AED 75 |
| Up to 48 hours | AED 105 |
| Up to 72 hours | AED 140 |
| Each further day | AED 25 |
Per item is the operative phrase — a family of four with four cases pays four times the line. For a short layover with one bag each it is still the easy answer; for a car full of luggage, read on.
Bags in the car, which costs nothing
Every layover and stopover plan we run is a private car, and the luggage simply travels in it — boot shut, air conditioning on, driver with the vehicle. It costs nothing, it needs no queue at Gate 7 twice, and the bags arrive at departures when you do.
For a family with four cases, that is the difference between AED 220 of storage and zero, before the convenience is even counted. It is one of the honest reasons the per-car model suits flight days: the car is your locker, your schedule and your ride in one.
The one case where the desk still wins: you are staying inside the terminal — a short connection, a rest in the lounge — and just want your hands free. Then Gate 7 is exactly what it is for.
Bags checked through vs bags with you
Before paying for anything, answer one question: are your bags checked through to the final destination? On most single-ticket connections they are — in which case you have no luggage problem at all, just a passport and a few free hours. The storage question only exists for bags you collected, which usually means separate tickets or an intentional stopover.
Your airline’s app answers this in ten seconds, and it is worth those ten seconds before planning around cases you will never see in Abu Dhabi.
Three practical tips
Keep the essentials on you. Passport, medication, the layer for the desert evening, and the power bank — the stored case should hold nothing you need before boarding.
Photograph the receipt. The desk is orderly, but a photo of the tag on your phone ends any discussion at collection time.
Time the collection into your buffer. We plan drop-offs at departures three hours before boarding; if the bags are at Gate 7, add the walk and the queue to that, not inside it.
Luggage questions on a layover
Where is luggage storage at Abu Dhabi airport?
On the arrivals concourse of Zayed International, Level 0 by Gate 7, open 24 hours. At our last check: AED 55 for up to 12 hours, AED 75 for 24, AED 105 for 48, AED 140 for 72, then AED 25 per further day — per item.
How much does it cost to store a bag at AUH for a layover?
AED 55 covers up to twelve hours, which fits almost any layover. A full day is AED 75. A family with several cases pays per item, which is where the free alternative — bags riding in the tour car — starts to matter.
Can I take my luggage on the desert safari?
On our layover and stopover plans, yes — the private car carries it the whole way, at no charge, and you are dropped at departures with the bags when the tour ends. Nobody hauls a case onto a dune; it stays in the vehicle.
Do I even need storage if I have a connecting flight?
Check whether your bags are tagged through to the final destination — on most single-ticket connections they are, and then there is nothing to store. The question only exists for bags you collect in Abu Dhabi.
Is the storage desk safe?
It is the airport’s own staffed facility, not a third-party locker wall. Photograph your receipt tag, keep passports and medication with you as you would anywhere, and treat it like any left-luggage desk at a major hub.

With the bags handled, the long-layover planner turns your hours into a plan and the layover safari page carries the prices. Getting into town instead? Taxis and transfers has the meter maths. If your passport needs one, the transit visa page has the correct fees.

On our tours the luggage rides in the car for nothing. If you are staying inside the terminal, Gate 7 costs less than lunch. Either way, the layover stops being about suitcases.
