This one number quietly decides everything about a safari booking: how the price works, whether your group stays together, who sits where, and the exact point where a private car stops being a luxury and starts being the cheaper option.

The number that surprises people is the shared 4×4: six passengers means your family of four shares the car with two strangers, or with nobody, depending on the evening. If the “or with nobody” matters to you, that is what the private car is for.
The break-even maths
Shared hotel pickup is AED 100 a head. The private car is AED 599 for the whole vehicle. So:

Keeping a group together
Eight people do not fit in one 4×4, so a group rides as two cars — and on the dunes that is no loss, because the vehicles travel as a convoy and regroup at the sunset stop and the camp.
The part that needs a sentence at booking is the camp: tell us the group size and we reserve your seating together. On a busy winter weekend, the VIP majlis at AED 50 a head is what guarantees the front block as one — that is the honest reason to buy it for a group. Who sits where
The front seat goes to whoever asks first — and asking at the hotel beats asking at the tyre stop. It is the seat with the view, the most warning of what the car is about to do, and by far the best one for anyone prone to motion sickness.
The rear row moves the most on the dunes and has the least view. On a shared car with six aboard, somebody sits there; on a private car with four of you in seven seats, nobody has to.

Will my family share the car with strangers?
