What moves the clock
Sunset moves everything. The whole evening is anchored to it — December pickups run earlier than July’s by well over an hour, so “what time will we be collected” has twelve answers. Send your date and get the real one.
Your pickup point moves the ends. A Corniche hotel adds the better part of an hour each way versus driving yourself; the airport side of town is closest of all — the camp is only forty minutes from AUH. On shared pickups, the loop past other hotels adds time a private car does not.
The ninety-minute middle
The phase that decides whether people call the evening “magical” or “slow” is the ninety minutes between arriving at the camp and dinner being served. Nothing is scheduled at you: the camel line moves at its own pace, the boards sit by the dune, the henna artist works through whoever sits down, and the light does the rest.
Guests who expected a theme park find it long. Guests told in advance treat it as the point — it is the only ninety minutes of the trip with nothing to be on time for. You have now been told in advance.
If you need it shorter
The honest options, in order: the morning safari compresses the desert into four hours and returns you by midday, at the cost of the shows and dinner. A private car can leave the camp whenever you decide — shared vehicles leave when the programme ends. What we will not do is sell the evening as “doable in three hours”; with an hour’s drive each way, that promise is arithmetic nobody can keep.
