A shared camp with a hundred other guests is not a candlelit dinner, whatever the photographs suggest. Here is what genuinely buys you privacy, and what no operator in this desert can sell you.

Every operator in the Emirates will sell you a “romantic desert experience” and show you a photograph of two people alone on a dune at sunset. That photograph is real. What it leaves out is the ninety other guests behind the camera and the fire show starting in twenty minutes.
None of which means the evening is a bad idea for an anniversary — it is a wonderful one. It just means the thing that makes it feel private is a decision you make when you book, not something that happens by luck at the camp.
What is possible, and what is not
Our camp at Al Khatim is a shared Bedouin camp, occupied every single night by other people’s families and tour groups. That one fact shapes everything an anniversary booking can honestly promise.
We can reserve a table so nobody sits down with you, seat you in the front majlis bay with backed seating at AED 50 each, keep a cake cold in the car and bring it out when you say, time your arrival so you are on the dunes for golden hour, and give you your own vehicle so the two of you travel alone.
We cannot give you the camp to yourselves, play your song over the speakers, stop the show for an announcement, or promise that nobody wanders into the background of your photographs.
Exclusive camp hire does exist in this region and it runs into five figures before anybody has eaten. If that is what you had in mind, we are not the right company for it, and it is better to hear that now than at the camp gate.
Four ways to buy a quieter evening
Privacy in this desert is bought with the vehicle and the hour, not with a package name. These are the four that actually work, in order of cost.

For most couples the honest recommendation is the overnight if you want quiet, and the sunrise if you want photographs. Both are covered properly on prices and timings, and the reasoning behind the premium trips is on the luxury page.
The hour matters more than the package
Golden hour is roughly the forty minutes before sunset. If you are on the dunes then, the photographs take themselves and you will not need anybody to arrange anything. Tell us it is your anniversary when you book and we will time the sunset stop for you rather than leaving it to the run of the evening.
The camp is busiest between the buffet opening and the fire show. That is the hour to be somewhere else — out at the edge of the camp where the lights stop and the sky starts. Nobody minds; it is the best part of the site and most guests never walk out there.
Winter nights are cold and very clear. November to February gives you stars you cannot see from any city and a temperature that makes sitting by the fire the obvious thing to do. Bring a jacket — the what to wear page has the month-by-month version.
Bring a cake — there is no champagne
Bring your own cake. It is allowed, it is welcome, and it costs a fraction of any “celebration package”. Hand it to the driver at pickup and it rides in the air-conditioned cabin, not the boot, and stays in the car until you want it. Choose something firm — fondant, cheesecake, anything chilled. Fresh cream and tall tiers do not survive the drive.
Bring plates, a knife and the tall relighting candles — the desert has wind after dark, and the camp buffet has nothing sized for a cake. A banner at your own table is fine. Nothing fixed to the camp structure, and please take it all home with you.
There is no alcohol at the camp. None is served or sold, and you cannot bring a bottle. Alcohol in the UAE is licensed to hotels and restaurants, and a camp on open desert land holds no licence — so if a toast is part of the plan, it happens at a licensed bar before you leave or after you get back. Arabic coffee, karak tea and fresh juice are unlimited and, for what it is worth, karak by a fire on a cold night is not the consolation prize it sounds like.
Payment, timing and the drive out
Nothing is paid in advance. No deposit, no card details, no payment link — you agree one total on WhatsApp and pay at the camp in cash or by card, VAT included. Free cancellation to twelve hours before pickup.
The camp is at Al Khatim, about an hour from the Corniche and forty minutes from Zayed International. The evening runs roughly six hours door to door, with most guests back around half past nine.
Tell us it is your anniversary when you book, not on the day. The table, the timing and the cake all need to be arranged before the car leaves — by the time you are on the sand, the evening is already running.

Can we have a private desert dinner just for two?
Not at our camp – it is shared every night and we will not pretend otherwise. What buys you privacy is the vehicle and the hour: a private sundowner car at AED 850, the sunrise trip at AED 999, or the overnight package once the day groups have gone home.
Can I bring a cake for our anniversary?

Is there champagne or wine at the camp?
