Desert Safari for Indian Visitors: Vegetarian, Jain, and What It Really Costs
“Veg options available” usually means chips. Here is the actual vegetarian spread, how Jain and gluten-free are handled, and why a family of six should look at the private car before booking six seats.

Indian families are the group most often let down by that four-word phrase every operator writes: vegetarian options available. It can mean a full mezze table or it can mean a bowl of fries and an apology, and you find out an hour into the desert.
So this page lists what is actually on the buffet, says plainly how strict separation works and where it stops, and does the arithmetic that saves most families several hundred dirhams.
The vegetarian spread, listed
The buffet is Arabic and Indian rather than Western, which works in a vegetarian’s favour — both cuisines build whole meals without meat instead of subtracting it.
The mezze table, which is where you eat best: hummus, mutabbal, falafel, vegetable sambousek, tabbouleh, fattoush and fresh breads. It is out before the grill even fires, and it is a full meal on its own.
The hot buffet: vegetable curry, dal, rice, pasta, potatoes and more bread. After: fruit and sweets, vegetarian by default. On arrival: gahwa and dates — Arabic coffee with cardamom, poured before anything else reaches the table.
Dishes rotate week to week with what is good, so that is the shape rather than a fixed menu. Vegetarian needs no notice at all — turn up and eat.

A day is enough. What does not work is asking at the camp — the food is out by then and the nearest shop is an hour away. Send the requirement with your booking message and we confirm it in writing.
How separate is separate
Vegetarian food is prepared and served separately from the meat — different trays, different serving utensils. It is not one counter with a shared spoon travelling between the chicken and the dal. The live grill is its own station, and you never need to stand near it.
What we will not claim is a separate kitchen. This is a desert camp buffet, not a certified vegetarian restaurant, and nobody out there has one. If your requirement is stricter than separate trays and utensils, tell us on WhatsApp and you will get a straight answer rather than a comfortable one. There is no pork at the camp and no alcohol anywhere, including in the cooking.
The arithmetic for a family
Nothing is paid in advance — no deposit, no card details. You agree the total on WhatsApp and pay at the camp, VAT included.

Notes for the trip
Children. Safety seats are required by UAE law under age four — bring your own or take the private car, where we fit them free. Dune bashing from three, camel rides from four, quads from twelve.
The evening is long. Roughly six hours door to door, home around half past nine, with a slow ninety minutes at the camp before dinner — the clock page sets it out so nobody is surprised.
Winter needs a jacket. December and January nights at the camp are genuinely cold, and children feel it before adults.
Cash. AED 100–200 covers tips and small extras; there is no cash machine in the desert.
Questions from Indian families
Is there proper vegetarian food at the desert safari?
Yes, and it needs no notice. The mezze table alone — hummus, mutabbal, falafel, vegetable sambousek, tabbouleh, fattoush and fresh bread — is a full meal, and the hot buffet adds vegetable curry, dal, rice, pasta and potatoes, with fruit and sweets after.
Can you arrange Jain food at the desert camp?
Yes, with one day’s notice. Say it clearly when you book and we confirm it in writing. Asking on the day does not work, because the food is already out and the nearest shop is an hour away.
Is vegetarian food kept separate from meat?
Yes — different trays and different serving utensils, with the live grill as its own station you never need to approach. We do not claim a separate kitchen, because this is a desert camp buffet and no camp in the Emirates has one.
What is the cheapest desert safari for an Indian family?
AED 35 per person driving yourself — AED 210 for six. With hotel pickup it is AED 100 each, but at six people the private car at AED 599 for the whole vehicle costs less than six seats and removes the pickup loop.
Is there alcohol at the camp?
No — not served, not sold, not permitted to bring, and not used in any cooking. There is no pork either. It is a family camp with no drinking crowd at any hour.
Do we pay anything in advance?
No deposit, no card details, no payment link. You agree the total on WhatsApp, pay cash or card at the camp with VAT included, and can cancel free up to twelve hours before pickup.
